The Final Profession Preparation Discernment is designed to meet the needs of religious women and men who are approaching the time for making a lifelong commitment within their Congregations, both those who are in discernment and those who have already been accepted for Final Profession.

ZAMBIA
SEARCHINGS, a 10-week regenerating experience (15 May – 23 July 2011)
offered to Sisters and Brothers who have been finally professed from 5 to 10 years
A TIME FOR INVESTING IN A NEW AND DEEPER SPIRITUAL NATURE.
With the help of the resident staff and external facilitators we will be engaged in exploring the great questions: ‘Who are You?’ and ‘Who am I?’ Our prayer will be that of St Augustine: “Lord, grant that I may know You and that I may know myself”.
In our search we will be accompanied by fellow explorers of different nationalities and ethnicities. We will be searching for God and our real selves in the Scriptures, within ourselves, in our environment, in our fellow human beings, in nature, in art, in wonder and bewilderment, in the story of the Cosmos.
We will seek unity in diversity, striving to overcome the obstacles which separate us whether they be national, racial, social, religious or cultural prejudices. We will try to respond to the call to become leaders as true disciples of Jesus.
In the process we will attempt to grow as a community of hope characterized by a love that struggles to cast out fear and all things that prevent us from becoming what we are created to be, namely, beloved daughters and sons of God.
Highly recommended for anyone preparing for leadership.
Venue: ISC (International Spirituality Centre), Lusaka

AN INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT PROMOTING CARE FOR THE EARTH
The 'Be The Change' symposium
[A number of Brothers in Ireland and England have taken part in the Symposium and then attended Training Days in order to gain the skills and resources to run the Symposiums]
"The most critical issue, and the greatest opportunity, of our time......and what you can do about it.
The Symposium takes a fresh look at our most critical current concerns - environmental sustainability, social justice and spiritual fulfilment - and explores and exposes what connects them. A unique, one-day workshop experience, it offers insight into the nature of our world, with leading-edge information, dynamic group interaction and inspiring video clips from some of the world's most respected thinkers and doers, including Paul Hawken, Desmond Tutu, Julia Butterfly Hill, Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry.
The aim of the Symposium is to explore how, by pulling together on an unprecedented scale, we can move in a new direction, towards an era of interconnected action and collective wellbeing. If you are ready to be disturbed, inspired and moved to action - if you are ready to be introduced to a thriving community of like-hearted, deeply committed people - we invite you to come to this Symposium.
The Symposium was created in the United States by The Pachamama Alliance, who generously gifted it to Be The Change. Events continue to take place across USA and Britain, as well as in Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden and Australia!

INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS E-COURSE
Acting Justly
An on-line course offered by Edmund Rice International to raise awareness about more effective global action for justice.
Within the broader purpose of contributing to the building of a more just and sustainable world where all enjoy dignity, equality, and freedom, the general aim of the course is to:
+ assist in developing an “advocacy” mindset to complement the “service” or “charity” mindset within the Edmund Rice Network
+ promote a greater understanding of the work of Edmund Rice International
+ promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Catholic Social Justice tradition and understanding of the ideals and work of the United Nations and of the contribution both can make to the building of a more just world.
No prior knowledge is assumed, and whilst it is meant to be informative and interesting it is not an academic course. Best of all it is free and you can work through the material at your own pace.
It is designed for busy people who would like a basic understanding of how organisations such as ERI can work within the UN system to bring about improved outcomes for the most vulnerable people on our planet and for our earth itself.
The course is divided into eight topics containing material for reading and reflection, some questions for discussion and an opportunity for chat with like-minded people around the world (an optional feature), some suggestions and guidelines for engaging in a simple exercise in advocacy of your own choosing, and some quizzes to test your own understanding. There are no marks or grades associated with the course.
You are welcome to sign up and work through the course individually (each topic takes about two hours to work through). or better still to form a group and work through it together.
The course is open to anyone and there is no charge for participating but to access it you will need to register. E-mail Christian Brother Brian Bond at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it indicating your preferred username (all lowercase with no spaces), and the name of the town or city and the country where you live. You will then be issued with a password which will enable you full access to the course materials.
